About This Quote

A lover goes toward his beloved as enthusiastically as a schoolboy leaving his books, but when he leaves his girlfriend, he feels as miserable as the schoolboy on his way to school. In this quote from William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet , Juliet says that the only difference between these two scenarios is that when a boy leaves his books he feels happy, when he is leaving a girl he feels sad. Both scenarios convey the idea that when a boy leaves school, he does so knowing that in a short time he will be back in school with a new set of books to read. However, when a girl leaves her boyfriend she knows that in a short time they will be broken up and she will have no one to read her books with.
